Like a good cup of coffee, the interior of this renovated breakfast café is at once soothing and stimulating. erstad ARCHITECTS opened and lightened an old store in Boise’s historic Hyde Park, and connected it to Richards Bakery. The result is inviting for patrons and functional for staff. The particular challenge with this project was to produce an original and appropriate design which also met the requirements of the neighborhood’s historic review committee. erstad ARCHITECTS negotiated this situation and also overcame the difficulties that come with inserting a new facility into a fully developed, historically restricted area.
