Erstad Architects

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In 2015 erstad ARCHITECTS decided to move their office to 310 North 5th Street, a one story space with a basement which had been occupied by Idaho Legal Aid Services for 35 years.  The interior of the building had not been updated and required extensive work.

The space was completely gutted, an outdated (scary) freight elevator was removed, and stairs were relocated to the center of the space, which opened the basement to provide much needed light and emergency egress. Downstairs, a staff kitchen and breakroom were added so that staff could stay connected to the office but go far enough away for a break. A small conference room, design library, project archives, and drafting area are also located in the basement.

The main level, which has its front door right off 5th Street, originally held 9 small offices. All of those walls were removed to reveal an airy, open office space perfect for collaboration between designers.  Bathrooms were relocated and upgraded to ADA standards. The large conference room has a custom designed glass wall/door system with the famous erstad eggs fashioned into film on the glass. An adjacent coffee bar is a great place for clients to take a break during long meetings.  Bright colors, multiple styles and types of flooring, and unique lighting complete the vivid interior design.

The result is a space we are delighted to share with our clients and friends and the perfect place to create the amazing projects we are so proud of.
